Administrator Changes at CMS and Maple Avenue

Unexpectedly, Principal Chenette resigned from his position at CMS this week. His last day was Friday, May 15. While his resignation may present some administrative challenges, it will have minimal impact on day-to-day learning. CMS’s Assistant Principal Steele has agreed to be the acting principal through the end of the year. We’re confident that Ms. Steele will continue to be the energetic and empathic leader for all of our students, teachers and staff that she has been throughout the year.
In addition to Acting Principal Steele’s leadership, we will be providing additional resources to support her at the middle school. Nichole Boynton, who is currently the Student Services Coordinator at Disnard Elementary, has agreed to join CMS as the acting assistant principal starting Monday through the end of the year.
Between these two school leaders, with Ms. Steele focusing on the school’s day-to-day learning and operations and Ms. Boynton focusing on higher level administration functions, we’re confident that CMS is in good hands.
At Maple Avenue, Principal Blount went out on leave this week and Mr. Irwin has agreed to become acting principal there through the end of the school year. We anticipate this change will have zero impact on our students’ day-to-day learning experience.
We appreciate all of the support and patience the community has shown for our middle school students, teachers, and staff throughout this challenging year. We are confident that the strength of our community will carry us through to the end of the year.
