Superintendent Search

The SAU 6 School Board has contracted with the New Hampshire School Board Association to guide the process for identifying and hiring a Superintendent to lead the SAU 6 School District to educational excellence. A seven member search committee was formed in September comprised of four SAU 6 School Board members, a SAU staff member, and principals from Unity and Claremont. The Search Committee formulated and sent out a survey in mid-November to collect information from the community regarding the perceived strengths and challenges facing the SAU 6 school districts. The results of this survey were used by the Search Committee to identify experience and characteristics desired of a new Superintendent and criteria to use in evaluating candidates. A job listing was developed and posted at the end of November 2018, also based on the experience, desired characteristics and criteria identified by the Search Committee using the surveys results. To date, nine applications have been received, but more are expected as applications will be accepted through January 15, 2019. Evaluations have already begun on the initial applications using a process developed by the Center for Secondary School Redesign, a consultant to the New Hampshire School Board Association and the criteria developed by the Search Committee. It is expected that the application evaluation process will be completed soon after the position listing closes, hopefully resulting in a handful of promising candidates moving to the interview process. The Committee expects to complete the evaluation / interview process by the end of March 2019 resulting in a hiring recommendation to the full Board in early April. We are looking for our new Superintendent to take the helm on or before July 1,2019.
